Fertility

There are some key vitamins and minerals that when deficient impair fertility. Studies have shown that when these nutrient deficiencies are addressed, fertility can be optimized. There are other nutrients that used in high dosages can leverage fertility. This is called functional medicine and can be used in those who don’t have deficiencies. One of these nutrients included vitamin B12. In men, vitamin B12 will increase sperm count and increase motility. For women vitamin B12 can help break down excess estrogen that can impair fertility.

Hormone Regulation

Estrogen Dominant

Symptoms of estrogen dominant include moderate to severe PMS, moderate to severe menstrual cramping, heavy bleeding during menstruation, and spotting before menstruation. Estrogen dominant conditions include fibrocystic breast disease, polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and endometriosis

Hormone regulation can be optimized in those who have estrogen dominance by making sure estrogen can be metabolized and eliminated. This requires proper liver function, proper bowel function and proper hormone function of the adrenal glands, uterus and ovaries.

Progesterone Deficient

Can be a symptom of estrogen dominant or a straight issue with low progesterone. If progesterone can’t be induced to be secreted by herbal support then a natural progesterone cream can be used to regulate fertility.

Detoxification

One of the major suspected caused of decreased fertility is the toxicity of our environment. Several key toxic substances can interfere with hormone regulation in both men and women. Detoxification before planned conception can increase the success of fertility.

Allergies

There are 2 families of allergies. IgE allergies are acute and life threatening. IgG are delayed and insidious. These allergies can impair fertility and hormone regulation and present 2 hours to 2 days after exposure. This long time delay can make IgG delayed allergies very difficult to identify without testing. Allergies are not common, but can be a production of inflammation that can make conception difficult.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been shown to increase the chance of conception through stimulating organ systems that are important to reproduction. Acupuncture has been reported to promote the circulation of blood in the pelvic cavity and improve ovarian function. Acupuncture treatment may be beneficial in promoting follicle production,2 enhancing uterine blood flow and improving uterine lining thickness. Acupuncture has been been particularly successful in increasing the success of IVF and IUI.

Men’s Fertility

Men’s hormones can be optimized through vitamins, minerals, herbal support and an anti-inflammatory diet. Most men have drastic improvements in sperm count with these very simple steps.
