Dr. Amber Purins is a licensed Chiropractor with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario. Dr. Purins believes in a patient-centred practice and utilizes several different treatment approaches when developing a program of care for her patients.
Training & Education
Dr. Purins completed her undergraduate education at McMaster University where she graduated with an Honours Degree in Kinesiology. While at McMaster, Amber competed with the Women’s Varsity Rugby team, Women’s Football team, and was an active member is the McMaster Right to Play Chapter. Dr. Purins went on to complete her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with Clinic Honours.
Dr. Purins has pursued training in several different treatment approaches as adjunct to her chiropractic training. She is full-body certified in Active Release Technique (ART®) and has been trained in Graston soft tissue therapy, Activator, and Thompson adjustment techniques. Dr. Purins is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and has certification in Webster Technique which can be used throughout pregnancy in order to promote proper pelvic function and aid in a smooth delivery process.
Dr. Purins’ Practice
Dr. Purins treats a variety of conditions and injuries, not isolated to the back and neck. Through her training with sport chiropractic specialists she has experience treating injuries throughout the entire musculoskeletal system including the pelvis, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and of course the back and neck. She bases her practice on a patient-centred approach utilizing the most up to date research, treatment options, and patient education to provide the most comprehensive care possible. As a former athlete herself, Amber enjoys treating athletes at all levels of the athletic spectrum from leisure to recreational through to elite competitive athletes. Dr. Purins also has a keen interest in women’s health, pregnancy related care, post-partum return to activity, and post-natal development.
Dr. Purins is very active in the Hamilton/Burlington community. She is currently the Assistant Coach of the McMaster Varsity Women’s Rugby team and Head Coach of the Burlington Women’s Rugby Team.
